Postdoctoral Researcher Position Available
Postdoctoral position available immediately in the Translational Neurotrauma Laboratory of Dr. Michelle LaPlaca at Georgia Institute of Technology, in Atlanta, GA, in the area of pre-clinical neurotrauma. The NIH funded project entails investigating lipid biomarkers in the brain and biofluids and efflux pathways (blood brain barrier and the glymphatic system) following mild-moderate traumatic brain injury. A Ph.D. degree in neuroscience, physiology, biochemistry, bioengineering or related field is required. Experience in neuroscience, mammalian experimentation, and data analysis is necessary to be successful. Experience in data science, biomarkers, and mass spectroscopy is beneficial, but not necessary. Applicants are expected to have an excellent track record in animal surgery, animal physiology, behavioral and histopathological outcomes, lab organization, team science, and mentoring. A minimum 2-year commitment is preferred. Salary and benefits follow standard NIH scale. A research technician position is available immediately in the Translational Neurotrauma Laboratory of Dr. Michelle LaPlaca at Georgia Institute of Technology, in Atlanta, GA, in the area of neurotrauma. The research technician will assist with ongoing experiments and coordinate lab operations. Research activities include animal handling and related procedures, including but not limited to stereotaxic surgery, injury, behavior, perfusion, tissue processing, sectioning, immunohistochemistry, and sample preparation. Technician will train lab staff in lab procedures and safety policies, oversee the preparation and maintenance of the lab facility and equipment, be responsible for ordering and maintaining inventories. Experience in animal physiology, neuroscience, microscopy, immunochemistry, image analysis, and data management is necessary. A bachelor’s degree in neuroscience, physiology, biochemistry, bioengineering or related field is required. Two years of relevant experience is required.
